2022 World Cup Playoff: Black Stars To Start Training Today Ahead Of Nigeria Clash

Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars will begin training on Monday ahead of their blockbuster encounter against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the World Cup playoff. 

The team will report to training in Accra on Monday as coach Otto Addo waits on his full squad for the trip to Kumasi on Tuesday.

The players led by Thomas Partey, who is already in the country, will assemble at the Accra Sports stadium later this afternoon to begin preparations.

On Tuesday, the team will leave Accra for Kumasi, where there will three days of intensive training before Friday’s game at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.

Meanwhile, interim coach Otto Addo and his assistants Mas Ud Didi Dramani and George Boateng will be speaking on their team to face Nigeria, the plan for the game and how to approach the match on Friday.

The Black Stars will host Nigeria in the first leg of the crucial encounter on March 25, 2022 before travelling to Nigeria four days later for the second leg.

The delay in the announcement of the squad has left many fans of the Black Stars in suspense, but the Ghana Football Association insists it is a strategy to keep Nigerians off the Ghanaian squad.

Meanwhile, an itinerary has been drawn, and players are expected to be in Ghana by the end of Monday. The team will travel to Kumasi on Tuesday to begin training before Friday’s encounter.

The Black Stars will be hoping to make a return to the competition after missing the World Cup in Russia four years ago.

The winner of the two-legged game will grab one of the five tickets allotted Africa for the tournament in Qatar later this year.
