Accra: Policeman Arrested For Leading Robbery Gang

Constable Abubakar Yakubu of the Counter-Terrorism Unit(CTU) of the Ghana Police Service is in the grips of the law for robbery and causing harm.

According to preliminary investigation by the Police, Abubakar Yakubu led a team of five to attack Sampson Gyamfi who was together with some friends seated at Soldier Bar.

The Police indicated that Abubakar Yakubu ordered Sampson Gyamfi to hand over keys and documents to his black Chevrolet.

Upon refusal to do so, Constable Abubakar Yakubu forcibly took the ignition keys from him and pounced on him to beat him and also take a gold chain worth GHC 2,400 from one of his friends Philip Teye.

Sampson Gyamfi was able to escape and ran to the galaway police snap check post where he reported what had transpired.

The Police swiftly intervened and arrested Constable Abubakar Yakubu and Kwesi Darko whiles others on their team bolted and are currently on the run.

Upon the arrest, the Police found pair of handcuffs, a police ID card and the complainant’s ignition key.
