PRESS STATEMENT TO DEBUNK ALLEGATIONS THAT NUNGUAMAN DZAASETSE, NII BOTWE LARYEA II IS INVOLVED IN A FRADULENT LAND SALE WITH MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT (MP) FOR EFFIA CONSTITUENCY, HONOURABLE JOSEPH CUDJOE. I HAVE NEVER EVER INVOLVED MYSELF IN ANY FRAUDULENT LAND OR ANY OTHER CRIMINAL DEALS.
We write to inform, clear the air and set the facts straight to the general public about allegations circulating within the media space about an alleged shady and fraudulent land sale belonging to a Ghanaian family living in the United States of America (USA) in which Nii Botwe Laryea II and the MP for Effia Constituency cum Deputy Minister of Energy, Honourable Joseph Cudjoe were mentioned.
This is an attempt to dent the hard-earned reputation of Nii Botwe Laryea II who has been falsely reported to have sold the land again to one, Evans Takyi Menson. In a fifty nine (59) minutes video from an unknown foreign media outlet, circulating on social media that, the said “MP connived with the chief to steal and vandalize a property belonging to a Ghanaian living in the USA.
According to the video, documentations about the case reveal that the family had owned the property for over nine years. It added that the Land Fraud Unit of the Police Department has arrested four men (who are alleged to have been working for the MP) in an attempt to develop the land near Tema.
The video continued that, the level of destruction of the property and loss of lives has been rampant adding that, the chief is notoriously known for snatching lands from their rightful owners” Nii Botwe Laryea II, Nunguaman Dzasetse wishes to clarify claims by Evans Takyi Menson; that one gentleman called who happens to be a land agent paid for eight (8) plots of land from my family. Finding it difficult to get the land from my family, I offered him a land I have demarcated for development. T. T. instead of the eight (8) plots took twenty-three (23) plots. I, Nii Botwe Laryea II solicited the services of a surveyor who ascertained the actual number of plots on the land taken by T. T. It was realized that 23 plots were demarcated.
An attempt to get the difference of 15 plots of land back from was seemingly challenging. He later produced six (6) plots out of the fifteen (15) which I rejected until he produced the fifteen (15) he had kept. In a bid to calm down my tempers, offered me a Land Cruiser to cover up the 15 plots.
But each plot of land when sold amounted to the price of one Land Cruiser vehicle, therefore, that offer could not be accepted because I have quite a fleet of cars at my disposal. Later on, came with one articulated vehicle head and an amount of one hundred and twenty thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢120,000.00) which I repudiated.
Subsequently, I received a mobile phone call from one officer (name only given as Amanor) from the Ghana Police Service who said, there had been a report about me (Nii Dzaase) that I have been involved in a fraudulent land sale with the MP and therefore would want me to write a statement for my side of the story, which I did. Later on, I got information that military officers had been instructed to guard the land.
The Commander who instructed the officers requested all parties involved in the land transactions for a meeting. At the meeting, one Evans Takyi Menson confessed that he purchased the land that had been sold to the MP from . but not me. Meanwhile, Evans Takyi Menson had circulated information that he bought the land from me, Nii Botwe Laryea II, Nunguaman Dzasetse which is a lie but in a deliberate plot circulated the video to tarnish my hard-earned reputation.
The matter is being investigated by the Ghana Police Service and would categorically say that, on NO occasion did I (Nii Botwe Laryea II, Nunguaman Dzasetse) sell the land to Mr Takyi Menson. I have never ever involved myself in any fraudulent land or any other criminal deals.
Please be informed that my lawyers are in the process of filing a lawsuit against Mr. Evans Takyi Menson’s claims for damages. Signed (Nii Botwe Laryea II, Nunguaman Dzaasetse)
