Voting has officially concluded across all 276 constituencies in Ghana for the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.
Citizens turned out in numbers at polling stations nationwide to cast their ballots, choosing the nation’s next president and representatives for the 9th Parliament.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has described the voting process as peaceful, transparent, and credible, despite reports of isolated incidents of violence and alleged electoral malpractices in some areas. These incidents have raised concerns among election observers and stakeholders.
Both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have leveled accusations against each other, alleging attempts to manipulate the electoral process. These claims have added tension to the already competitive political atmosphere.
With polling officially closed, the sorting and counting of ballots are now underway. Ghanaians eagerly await the official results, which will determine the country’s leadership and parliamentary composition for the next four years.
