Special Voting is currently ongoing at designated polling stations nationwide, a key milestone ahead of Ghana’s December 7 general elections.
This early voting exercise is tailored for individuals who will play vital roles on election day, enabling them to fulfill their duties without missing the opportunity to vote.
The targeted participants include electoral officials, security personnel, and media practitioners involved in managing the general election process. According to the Electoral Commission (EC), approximately 131,478 individuals are expected to partake in the exercise today, December 2.
Voting is being conducted in 14 of Ghana’s 16 regions, with the Eastern and Western Regions notably excluded.
This is due to a directive from the EC to recall and reprint ballot papers after a breach of security seals was identified.
The Special Voting process highlights the EC’s commitment to ensuring an inclusive and efficient electoral process while addressing critical logistical challenges to maintain the integrity of the elections.
