The robust and dynamic nature of the democratic process in the United Kingdom has once again been exemplified, thereby reaffirming the nation’s commitment to democratic values, as articulated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
On behalf of the people and Government of Ghana, President Akufo-Addo extended heartfelt congratulations to the UK Labour Party and its leader, Sir Keir Starmer, following their victory in the general election held on Thursday, 4th July 2024.
President Akufo-Addo remarked that this triumph reflects the trust and confidence the British people have placed in the Labour Party’s vision and leadership.
He expressed Ghana’s eagerness to continue and enhance the longstanding and beneficial relationship with the United Kingdom under Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership.
Together, President Akufo-Addo noted, Ghana and the UK will work towards shared goals and mutual prosperity for the benefit of their citizens.
In his statement, President Akufo-Addo also commended Rishi Sunak, the outgoing Prime Minister, and the Conservative Party for their service and dedication to the United Kingdom.
He acknowledged and congratulated all other parties that participated in the election, highlighting their contributions and commitment to democratic values, which have been crucial in shaping the UK’s political landscape.
President Akufo-Addo reiterated Ghana’s commitment to deepening its fruitful relations with the UK under Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He concluded by once again congratulating the Labour Party and Prime Minister Starmer, looking forward to future collaborations aimed at achieving shared prosperity.
