President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially inaugurated the 120-bed Fomena Hospital in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region, ending a lengthy delay in its completion.
The project, which began in 2014, had faced numerous postponements due to funding challenges, causing frustration among residents of the Adansi Traditional Area. They had consistently urged the authorities to ensure the hospital’s completion to address healthcare needs in the region.
At the inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo highlighted that the hospital’s completion demonstrates the government’s dedication to providing modern healthcare facilities nationwide.
“This hospital is a testament to our unwavering commitment to meet current healthcare standards across Ghana,” he stated.
He also mentioned that similar hospital projects had been successfully completed in Kumawu, Fomena, and Takoradi, reinforcing the government’s focus on healthcare infrastructure.
President Akufo-Addo reassured the public that the government is on track to finish several other projects by the end of the year.
“We are committed to completing these vital projects, which are crucial for our goal of achieving universal health coverage,” he said.
He emphasized that these efforts are essential for ensuring improved and more efficient healthcare services for all Ghanaians, addressing long-standing healthcare needs in various communities.
The President’s announcement was met with optimism from local residents and healthcare professionals who have long awaited the hospital’s opening.
