All five aspirants who picked nomination forms to contest the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been successfully vetted and cleared to participate in the upcoming contest.
The vetting exercise was held at the party’s Greater Accra Regional Office, after which the aspirants balloted for their positions ahead of the primary scheduled for February 7.
The cleared candidates, in the order of balloting, are Mohammed Ramme, the NDC Constituency Chairman; Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament; Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria; Yakubu Azindow; and Najib Mohammed.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, January 28, the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, commended the aspirants for their cooperation throughout the vetting process.
He urged them to conduct issue-based campaigns and uphold party unity as the primary approaches.
“We have admonished them to go into the constituencies to do their needful by campaigning and ensuring that the right things are done, so that what we started from the beginning will end successfully,” he said.
