Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, has announced his resignation from the entity to allow him to contest in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Executive election for the National Chairman position.

Addressing the closing session of a three-day retreat organized by SIGA, for Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), their Deputies, and Board Chairpersons of state-owned agencies at Kwahu-Nkwatia in the Eastern Region, Mr. Asamoah-Boateng commended the CEOs for supporting him to bring the Authority this far.

He urged them to continue to work in unity and conscientiously to help the government to achieve its agenda for the country.

The programme dubbed ‘The strategic role of Heads of Institutions in transforming specified entities towards the achievement of Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda’, was attended by more than 300 CEOs, their Deputies, and Board Chairpersons across the country.

Apart from Mr. Asamoah Boateng, six other NPP bigwigs have declared their intention to contest the NPP Chairmanship position currently occupied by Freddie W. Blay who is not seeking another term after leading the party to two successful election victories.

Prominent among the seven is Stephen Ayensu Ntim who will be making his fifth attempt at the position after four unsuccessful efforts.

Others are former Education and Railway Minister, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, Central Regional Chairman, Robert Kutin Jnr, former Greater Accra Regional Minister Ishmael Ashitey, and current National Treasurer Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah.

Mr. Asamoah Boateng however, declined comment when contacted except to state that the party needs every experienced hands and true party man who knows the workings of the party and is strategic to ensure victory in the election to continue with the incredible performance of the Akufo-Addo- Bawumia administration.
