The Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso Boakye, has commended the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) for its efforts to empower local assemblies in the development and maintenance of roads.
He highlighted the collaboration between ministry engineers and local authorities as a key component of the initiative.
This partnership aims to implement essential road maintenance activities, such as grading roads and installing drainage structures.
Asenso Boakye expressed confidence that the DRIP would significantly enhance the quality of roads in various districts, thereby facilitating better transportation and connectivity. He noted that the proactive involvement of local assemblies ensures that road maintenance is timely and tailored to the specific needs of each community.
Adding to the discussion, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, underscored the importance of good roads in driving economic growth and improving livelihoods. He emphasized that well-maintained roads are crucial for efficient transportation, which in turn supports commerce and access to essential services.
Dr. Amin also mentioned that the country’s economy is rebounding more robustly than anticipated.
