A 28-year-old man, allegedly part of a six-man gang of thieves, was lynched at Asuabena-Beposo, a farming community near Mankranso in the Ashanti Region.
The deceased and his gang reportedly attacked Seidu Sabo with machetes on July 5, 2024, and stole three of his cattle. Sabo, armed with a sharp machete, fought back and inflicted fatal wounds on one of his attackers, according to the Daily Guide.
The Mankranso District Police reported that Seidu Sabo, severely injured from the attack, managed to report the incident to the police before seeking medical attention.
According to the police statement, Salifu Abugri of Beposo brought the wounded Sabo to the Mankranso Police at 4:45 AM on the same day.
Abugri informed the police that the six armed men attacked Sabo and stole his cattle.
Upon receiving the report, police officers accompanied by the complainant went to the crime scene, about 500 meters from Asuabena-Beposo.
They found the lifeless body of a male, estimated to be 28 years old, lying in a pool of blood. The deceased had a deep cut on his back and a severed right hand. He was wearing pink boxer pants, a blood-stained brown shorts, and had a green shirt in his pocket.
The police have since deposited the body at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining gang members to aid in the ongoing investigation.
