Three young men who desecrated their friend’s dead body at Asante Akyem Akutuase in the Ashanti region have reportedly died.
While it is unclear if their actions directly caused their deaths, the local community believes they were punished by the gods of the land.
These young men were not natives of Akutuase but came to the town to bury their friend, whose father is from the area.
The Chief of Akutuase, Nana Kofi Bediako, confirmed the incident in an interview on Adom News, noting that the Traditional Council has implemented punitive measures to prevent such disrespectful acts from happening again.
As part of these measures, the father of the deceased and the young man who recorded and posted the video on social media have been fined.
Nana Bediako explained that this action aims to purify ‘Brosambour,’ their sacred god, during the ‘Awukude3‘ festival on July 17, 2024.
The community’s response highlights the deep cultural and spiritual significance they place on respecting the deceased and the sacred traditions of their land.
