The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has emphasized the importance of leveraging Ghana’s rich traditional culture to enhance the country’s global image.
He highlighted that Ghana, being centrally located and culturally dynamic, should make deliberate efforts to showcase its heritage to the world.
Speaker Bagbin’s remarks came during a courtesy visit by the Righteous Stars Cultural Dance Team to Parliament.
The Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah, welcomed the team and noted their success in winning the highest award at the 2022 World Cultural Festival.
He mentioned that their exceptional global performances prompted the visit to formally announce their participation in the upcoming 2024 World Cultural Dance Festival in South Korea, scheduled from July 15th to 31st.
Rev. Young Jun Moon, the Leader of the Cultural Team and Deputy Country Manager of the International Youth Fellowship, shared insights into South Korea’s historical background and its developmental journey.
This narrative was presented during the team’s interaction with the Speaker and other parliamentary leaders.
The visit concluded with applause from the Rt. Hon. Speaker, along with leaders from both the Minority and Majority Caucuses, as well as Directors and Officers of the Parliamentary Service.
They all commended the Righteous Stars for their cultural performance and extended their best wishes for the team’s success in the forthcoming contest in South Korea.
