Bank of Ghana (BoG) cash boxes have been discovered at the center of a major counterfeiting operation in Sarpeiman, a suburb in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The incident has attracted the public’s attention, as many speculate the possibility of insider involvement in what is now being described as one of the most elaborate criminal setups uncovered in recent years.
Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa, confirmed that the money boxes recovered from the scene were authentic BoG property.
The council, there, cited an operation that was uncovered in February and had been running behind a front disguised as a modest battery-charging shop in an abandoned structure by one “Battery Doctor.”
