Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has officially introduced Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, to the party’s National Officers as his running mate for the upcoming 2024 General Elections.
This announcement, made on July 1, 2024, marks a crucial step in the NPP’s campaign strategy ahead of the national polls.
Henry Nana Boakye, the NPP’s National Organizer, confirmed that the presentation occurred at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down.
He stated, “The meeting at Asylum Down follows Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s earlier nomination presentation to the majority caucus of Parliament,” underlining the procedural path leading to this decision.
“The nomination of Dr. Opoku Prempeh now awaits deliberation by the National Council, the party’s final approving authority,” Boakye added, highlighting the remaining steps before formal endorsement.
Dr. Bawumia’s initiative to nominate Dr. Opoku Prempeh follows recent consultations with President Akufo Addo and the majority caucus of Parliament, underscoring strategic planning and alignment within the NPP leadership for the upcoming elections.
