The Church of Pentecost in Kade, Eastern Region, has called on residents to prioritize sanitation to help combat the spread of diseases in the area.
This appeal was made during a presentation of plastic dustbins, worth thousands of Ghana cedis, to the local branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).
During the donation ceremony, Pastor Godwin Kase Ntim, head of the Kade branch of the Church of Pentecost, emphasized that promoting cleanliness at public places like lorry stations is vital to maintaining public health.
He highlighted that sanitation challenges at transport hubs are a growing concern for the church, which is committed to ensuring cleaner surroundings through community involvement.
Alhaji Majid, chairman of the GPRTU in Kade, expressed his gratitude to the church for their generous donation. He assured that the dustbins would be strategically placed at the lorry station to encourage better waste disposal habits among passengers and transport operators.
He also appealed to sanitation service providers like Zoomlion to regularly empty the bins to ensure their effectiveness in maintaining a clean environment at the station.
The community looks forward to improved sanitary conditions as a result of this initiative.
