The Coalition Concerned Nurses and Midwife Trainees has voiced its support for former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent emphasis on prioritizing job security over allowances for trainee nurses.
During an engagement with nursing students, Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, urged trainees to focus on securing stable employment opportunities rather than relying on temporary financial allowances.
While acknowledging the financial hardships faced by trainee nurses, Mahama emphasized that long-term employment prospects in the healthcare sector would ultimately offer greater stability and benefits.
He also criticized the current administration for failing to deliver on its promises, noting that some nurses have gone without their allowances for as long as 30 months.
In an interview with Hot News, Gilbert Kudze, a leader of the Coalition Concerned Nurses and Midwife Trainees, expressed agreement with Mahama’s stance.
“It is the wish of every trainee nurse to secure a job after school,” Kudze stated, highlighting the importance of job security for the future of healthcare professionals in Ghana.
The Coalition’s endorsement of Mahama’s position reflects a growing concern among trainee nurses about their career prospects and the need for policies that ensure sustainable employment within the healthcare system.
