The Accra High Court has dismissed a ‘submission of no case’ filed by the founder of defunct Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM1.
NAM 1, together with Menzgold, are on trial for allegedly defrauding the public of about GHC340million during the operations of Menzgold, a supposed gold buying company.
In a detailed ruling spanning close to 110 pages, the court, presided over by Justice Ernest Owosu-Dapaah, held that the prosecution was able to establish a prima facie case against the accused person to warrant him to open his defence.
Consequently, the court invited NAM 1 to open his defence and answer to the charges leveled against him.
“Accused persons are hereby called upon to enter their defense .
However, the have the right to testify or not” the court held.
