An extraordinary cultural spectacle is set to unfold as Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba and dynamic hiplife artist King Paluta headline a captivating event on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at New York City’s prestigious United Palace Theatre.

The evening will be graced by the iconic Daddy Lumba (Charles Kwadwo Fosuh), accompanied by his talented vocalists, Priscilla Ofori and Derrick Ntiamoah, who will deliver an authentic highlife performance steeped in Ghanaian rhythms, evocative storytelling, and soulful melodies.

Their segment promises to showcase highlife’s enduring charm and cultural distinctiveness, a genre that masterfully fuses traditional Ghanaian sounds with Western instrumentation, offering American audiences a rare and profound musical encounter.

Complementing the night’s vibrant lineup, King Paluta (Thomas Agyei Wereko), one of Ghana’s most versatile contemporary artists, will present his signature blend of hiplife, highlife, and Afrobeat.

His performance will provide a fresh insight into modern Ghanaian music. He will seamlessly weave cultural idioms, traditional narratives, and proverbs into compelling beats that bridge ancestral roots with contemporary innovation.

Beyond the musical performances, this event is designed as a profound cultural immersion. Attendees will experience a mini durbar of chiefs, resplendent in magnificent Kente cloth and other traditional Ghanaian attire, complemented by vibrant cultural performances and fashion displays.

These elements will serve as a vivid celebration of Ghana’s rich heritage, offering a sensory journey through customs and traditions that span generations, from rhythmic drumming and expressive dance to captivating oral storytelling.

Furthermore, concertgoers will have the exclusive opportunity for a Meet & Greet with the artists, facilitating direct interaction, autograph sessions, photo opportunities, and access to special merchandise for both Ghanaian diaspora members eager to reconnect with their roots and global music aficionados.

A noteworthy addition to the event is a special panel discussion, hosted by the SXSW Office, where the featured artists will delve into insightful conversations about Ghanaian culture, music, and creative legacies.

Select guests will also be granted access to a private studio recording session, providing a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process of authentic Ghanaian music, highlighting the cultural narratives and artistry that shape its sound, and offering invaluable insights for fans and aspiring creators alike.

The tour dates for this unparalleled music and cultural journey include:

July 5 – New York, NY (United Palace Theatre)

July 12 – Ohio

July 19 – Washington, D.C.

July 26 – Worcester, Massachusetts

August 4–11 – Austin, Texas

August 13–25 – Return to New York for Closing Celebrations

This tour is an essential experience for anyone passionate about global music or cultural narratives.
