Nigerian Afrobeat singer and activist Seun Kuti has shared a chilling experience from his recent trip to the United States after a stray bullet shattered the window of his hotel room.
Taking to Instagram, Kuti posted a video of the damage, showing a bullet hole that appeared to have narrowly missed him.
In the background, his voice was heard, laced with shock: “Tell me you’re in America without telling me you’re in America. I’m in my hotel room just chilling and boom.”
The artist, who has long been vocal about global injustice and African dignity, used the incident to question the Western narrative of law and order.
“I read somewhere that these are the civilised people,” he wrote in the caption, delivering a heavy dose of irony.
Though visibly shaken, Kuti assured his followers he was unharmed. He, however, did not disclose the exact city where the incident occurred.
