Power crisis sets to hit the campus of Gold Coast’s first established Senior High School, the Mfantsipim School.
At the 147th Speech and Prize Giving Day of Mfantsipim School held at the school premises in Cape Coast, the headmaster of the school, Ebenezer Kobina Aidoo, revealed that the school is in distress about the power supply to the institution.
The headmaster proclaimed that after the government’s default in relation to payment of electricity bills, the school can currently not afford to pay either.
He further disclosed that out of GHS 204,000 accumulated between January and October 2023, the government made less than 50 percent of the payment with an outstanding amount of GHS 115,000.
Meanwhile, the school has appealed to parents to bail them out of their power crisis.
Also at the ceremoney, the Chairman of the occasion, Kwaku Frimpong Kumah, a member of the 1983-year group, pledged that he would work to ensure that the school had potable water for the students.
