A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, Alhaji Ali Kabe, has levelled a series of startling allegations against the newly established Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), claiming the institution frequently “borrows” gold from dealers rather than conducting outright purchases.
Speaking on the Hot Morning Ride show hosted by Oman Nana on Hot 93.9FM, Alhaji Kabe alleged that the state-owned regulator and trader is struggling to maintain its operations.
Elaborating on his claims, the NPP communicator stated that his information comes directly from close associates within the gold industry.
According to Alhaji Ali Kabe, gold dealers are increasingly frustrated with the current state of the sector and the “bad” conditions they are forced to operate under.
He further accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration of a lack of transparency regarding the country’s gold mining output.
The NPP communicator claimed that the authorities do not allow the public or stakeholders to see receipts or documentation related to gold being mined, which he labelled as a form of “cheating.”
Beyond the gold trading allegations, Alhaji Kabe drew a sharp contrast between the security situations under different administrations.
He concluded by calling for a formal investigation into the GoldBod’s activities to clarify the truth for the Ghanaian public.
