A tragic altercation in Gomoa Nyanyano, Central Region, has left a young man, Ato Kwame, popularly known as Shorkie, dead after he was allegedly stabbed with scissors.
The suspect, identified as Robert, reportedly attacked Shorkie during a dispute over a GHS 30 debt. Both individuals were described as close acquaintances and part of the local “ghetto boys” community.
The Gomoa Nyanyano police have apprehended one suspect connected to the incident as investigations continue. An eyewitness recounted the details of the altercation to BKB, revealing the circumstances that escalated into violence.
This gruesome incident has sparked outrage and calls for action among community leaders and residents.
In response, traditional authorities, led by Kyidomhene Sariki Abdullai Issaka Giwa, organized a youth-led operation to dismantle local ghettos believed to harbor criminals. These hideouts have reportedly become sanctuaries for perpetrators of violent crimes, including individuals from neighboring communities.
Sariki Abdullai expressed concerns about the rising crime rate in Gomoa Nyanyano, which he attributed to the influx of criminal elements.
The Kyidomhene urged the Ghana Police Service to intensify patrols and operations in the area to restore peace and security.
