The Ministry of Health has announced the disbursement of GHS462 million to cover training allowances for 120,000 nursing students across Ghana, fulfilling a key campaign pledge by President John Dramani Mahama.
The amount, which covers six months of arrears, is part of government’s broader policy to support students in Nursing Training Colleges and boost morale among future healthcare professionals.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 17, the Ministry said the release of funds marks a significant milestone in improving trainee welfare and sustaining human resource development within the health sector.
The Ministry also expressed gratitude to President Mahama for honoring his commitment, and to all stakeholders who played a role in ensuring the timely release and distribution of the funds. It further pledged continued collaboration with nursing institutions to maintain quality healthcare education nationwide.
