Celebrated Black Stars and Accra Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has made an astonishing revelation that he bathes his amputated grandmother before going for training.
Just a few years ago,, the shot-stopper’s career appeared to be over after a devastating knee injury sidelined him for nearly a year in 2023.
Many thought he would never play professional football again. At 28, with such a serious injury, the odds were stacked against him. But fate had other plans, He joined Accra Great Olympic before joining Hearts of Oak.
His stellar performances for the Phobians have earned him the number one goalkeeper spot for the Black Stars. He kept two clean sheets in two games against Chad and Madagascar during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, earning the trust of head coach Otto Addo, who named him the first-choice goalkeeper.
Benjamin Asare, who has kept 15 clean sheets in 24 matches for Hearts of Oak this season, has been included in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London, slated for May 28.
While sharing his life story in an exclusive interview on Accra-based Hot 93.9 FM, the celebrated Black Stars and Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeper made an astonishing revelation that he is the one who bathes his grandmother, whose leg has been amputated.
“I take care of my grandmother…I’m the one who bathes for her…I do that before going to training… Even though I have siblings, I’m the only one who takes care of her”, Benjamin Asare said
