Former Accra Great Olympics head coach, Annor Walker, has revealed the pivotal role he played in the early career of Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare.
Before becoming a celebrated figure at Hearts of Oak and a key player for the Black Stars, Benjamin Asare played for Accra Great Olympics, quickly winning the hearts of the “Oly Dade” supporters.
He earned massive praise from football fans around the world after his exceptional performance for the Black Stars during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, after keeping clean sheets in both matches.
However, his path to success wasn’t without its hurdles. In an exclusive interview with Takoradi-based Oil City radio, as reported by HotfmGhana.com, Coach Annor Walker shed light on the dedication and belief that propelled Asare to national stardom.
He recounted how he financially supported the Black Stars’ goalkeeper after recognizing his raw talent and immense potential.
“There were financial challenges, but I told him I would support him…We always say God’s time is the best, so I believe this is the right time for Benjamin Asare.” Annor Walker recounted, as reported by Hotfmghana.com.
