Security analyst Dr. Adam Bonaa has demanded a thorough investigation into the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following allegations that its Director, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, threatened his family.
Bonaa addressed the controversy surrounding his accusations against Tiwaa, emphasizing his commitment to accountability within public institutions.
He clarified that his dispute with Tiwaa stemmed from his concerns over the handling of funds found at former minister Cecilia Dapaah’s residence, criticizing EOCO for allowing a warrant to seize the money, issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to expire without conducting a proper investigation.
This has led Bonaa to call for a bipartisan inquiry into EOCO’s actions, alleging institutional corruption and mismanagement.
In an exclusive interview with Hot 93.9 FM’s Morning Ride, Bonaa recounted the alleged threats made against his wife, both through WhatsApp messages and direct phone calls. He expressed disappointment over what he described as attempts to intimidate his family, stating firmly that such actions do not contribute to accountability within public offices.
“If Ghana’s institutions are functioning properly, Cecilia Dapaah should be held accountable,” Bonaa asserted, highlighting the broader implications of the case. He questioned Tiwaa’s suitability to lead EOCO, suggesting that her actions reflect poorly on the agency’s integrity and professionalism.
“I will pursue this matter through the appropriate channels, including the Police Professional Standard Bureau and CID,” Bonaa affirmed, indicating his intention to petition Parliament and international agencies to address what he perceives as a breach of trust and competence within EOCO’s leadership.
