The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has announced a major reshuffle within the senior command structure of the Ghana Police Service, effecting several changes with immediate effect.
According to an official posting released by the Police Administration, a number of Commissioners of Police (COPs)and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) have been reassigned to new roles as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and improve operational efficiency across the Service.
Under the changes, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba has moved from Director-General of Technology to Director-General of the National Police Development (NAPD), while COP Iddi Lansah Seidu has been reassigned from Director-General of Welfare to Director-General of Technology.
COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba has been transferred from Director-General of Operations to Director-General of Research and Planning, with COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe moving from the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to take over as Director-General of Operations. Meanwhile, DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey has been reassigned from Research and Planning to head the PPSB, and DCOP Eric Ken Winful has moved from NAPD to Welfare.
The reshuffle also affected regional and technical commands. DCOP Charles K. Adu has been appointed Regional Commander for the Eastern Sector, while DCOP Isaac Asante has been moved from the Eastern Region to the Police National Headquarters. DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi has taken over as Regional Commander for the Central Region, with DCOP George Ankomah moving from Central MTTD/Ashanti Region to become Regional Commander for the Eastern North Region.
Additionally, DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, who previously served as Director of ICT at the Police Headquarters, has been reassigned to head the Central MTTD/Ashanti Region.
The IGP noted that the postings form part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening command structures, enhancing operational effectiveness, and improving service delivery within the Ghana Police Service.
