The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has firmly denied allegations of electoral malpractice leveled against her by the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate, Phyllis Naa Koryor.
Responding to claims that her party, the NPP, housed military officers in a hotel to thumbprint ballot papers ahead of elections, Hawa Koomson described the accusations as false and baseless.
“I have never rigged any election since I started my political career. I always win elections genuinely,” she stated during a media briefing.
The Awutu Senya East Constituency, located in the Central Region, has 173,989 registered voters expected to cast their ballots at 314 polling stations.
While pledging her commitment to a peaceful election process, Hawa Koomson warned that her party would retaliate if provoked by the opposition.
“We want peace in Kasoa, but if the NDC misbehaves, we will respond accordingly,” she stressed.
Her remarks come amid heightened political tension as Ghana prepares for its upcoming elections.
