Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has issued a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, urging them to mend fences with disgruntled party members or face dire electoral consequences.
Agyapong highlighted the urgency of addressing grassroots grievances to avoid widespread apathy that could jeopardize the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.
Acknowledging the simmering discontent among the party’s base, Agyapong called for immediate action from party leaders and appointees who have alienated supporters.
“The leadership that has caused the grassroots to be angry should call them and make amends,” he demanded. Emphasizing the need for respect over financial handouts, he stated, “We didn’t say put money in the pockets of the people. All they need is respect.”
To regain the trust and support of the party’s base, Agyapong advocated for an aggressive, personal campaign strategy.
He urged leaders to engage in a “door-to-door, room-to-room” approach to rebuild connections and directly address the concerns of grassroots members. This hands-on tactic, he believes, is essential for restoring faith and unity within the party.
Agyapong concluded with a powerful message about the necessity of reconciliation for electoral success.
“Whoever has been offended should be brought back to the fold and with unity we will break the eight,” he declared, highlighting the critical importance of unity and collective effort to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
