Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has reaffirmed his commitment to the ruling government New Patriotic Party (NPP), assuring his followers that he will continue to serve the party regardless of his position in the upcoming 2024 elections.
He emphasized that true leadership stems from service to the party, even if he is not the flagbearer for the elections.
Agyapong believes that this period of service will enhance his capabilities as a future leader and urged his supporters to respect this approach.
In a social media post, he stated, “Some people were upset with me during my recent visit to Kumasi. I want to remind my supporters that loyalty to the party supersedes personal sentiments. As long as I remain in the NPP, I will actively participate in the party’s activities. If you want to be a leader, you must first be a servant of the people.”
His comments came during his appearance at the unveiling of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for the 2024 elections.
Agyapong took this opportunity to advise the party to strengthen its base, acknowledging the discontent among grassroots supporters who may not vote if their concerns are not addressed.
Kennedy Agyapong also stressed the importance of respecting the electorate and avoiding any sense of superiority when in power.
He reminded his colleagues that ultimate power lies with the people, and it is crucial to serve with humility and dedication.
