The Member of Parliament for Kintampo South, Hon. Felicia Adjei, has urged the government to strengthen its support for young entrepreneurs as a crucial step in addressing irregular migration in Ghana.

During a parliamentary address, Hon. Felicia Adjei highlighted the difficult choices many young Ghanaians face. Confronted with limited job opportunities, inadequate support, and challenging economic conditions, many individuals feel compelled to pursue irregular migration routes in search of a better life abroad.

To counter this growing issue, the Kintampo South MP presented a comprehensive strategy focusing on several key areas:

She championed expanded opportunities for young entrepreneurs, recommending improved access to vital funding, practical training, and valuable mentorship.

These measures, she argued, would empower young Ghanaians to establish and grow their businesses successfully.

Furthermore, Hon. Adjei urged the government to streamline business registration processes and fast-track the passage of the Ghana Investment and Startup Bill.

Simplifying these procedures would significantly ease the path for young individuals looking to launch businesses and secure necessary capital.

The MP also stressed the importance of fostering creativity and innovation within the country by safeguarding the intellectual property of young entrepreneurs. She emphasised that collaboration is paramount, calling for a united front among government agencies, private sector entities, and civil society organisations to provide holistic support to this demographic.

Specifically, Hon. Adjei implored the government to accelerate the drafting of the Ghana Investment and Startup Bill and to develop robust policies designed to aid young entrepreneurs.

“By working together…we can cultivate an ecosystem that champions young people, stimulates innovation, and drives economic growth.”

This initiative, she believes, will not only benefit individuals but also make substantial contributions to Ghana’s overall progress and development. Ultimately, by empowering its young entrepreneurs, Ghana can significantly reduce irregular immigration, spur economic advancement, and build a more promising future for its youth.
