The Korea Importers Association has expressed skepticism regarding promises made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, concerning tax reforms at Ghana’s ports.
Speaking at the NPP’s manifesto launch in Takoradi, Dr. Bawumia pledged to harmonize port charges with those of regional competitors, such as Togo, with the aim of making them either equal or lower, in an effort to strengthen businesses, boost economic growth, and create jobs.
However, the Korea Importers Association remains unconvinced.
The group’s Organiser, Mr. Ernest Ofosu, voiced concerns over the feasibility of these promises, calling on Dr. Bawumia to demonstrate his commitment by beginning the implementation of his proposed reforms before the upcoming general elections.
According to Mr. Ofosu, actions speak louder than words, and the association wants to see tangible proof that the flagbearer can deliver on his commitments.
