Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo has taken on his main opponent, the National Democratic Congress’ John Mahama accusing him of running a campaign of lies and deception.
Addressing a mammoth of rally at Ash town in the Menhyia south constituency on Wednesday, December 3 2020 to wrap up his tour of the Ashanti region, President Akufo-Addo said, “The former president is moving around saying he brought free SHS, a leader who doesn’t fear God is moving around telling Ghanaians that lie”.
“His campaign is collapsed, Mahama’s campaign is collapsed it has no sense so he has resorted to lies, fabrication, misrepresentation, confusion of thought” he added.
According to Mr. Akufo-Addo, “The NDC presidential candidature has collapsed, the campaign is no longer viable for the Ghanaian people” The Ashanti Region is regarded the strong hold of the NPP and has the second largest electoral roll with over three million expected to vote in the elections.
The party is targeting 85% of popular votes and the win of all 47 parliamentary seats in the Region. Mr. Akufo-Addo on Monday, 30th November, embarked on a 3-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, with visits, on day one, to Bantama, Offinso North, Offinso South, Afigya Kwabre North, Manhyia North, Subin and Asokwa.
On Tuesday, 1st December, he launched the Cocoa Farmer’s Pension scheme at Jubilee Park, commission the Bodukwan Multi-fruit processing factory, and address residents at Manso Nkwanta, Manso Adubia and Patasi. On day 3 of his campaign tour, the President visited Nyinahin, Mpasatia, Bohyen, Bantama, Suame and Ash town.
