The Ministry of Tourism Cultural and Creative Arts in collaboration with the national theatre of Ghana hosted a spectacular Nine Lessons and Carols event on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Under the theme “Light of the World: A Cultural and Creative Christmas Experience,” the evening blended sacred tradition with Ghana’s rich artistic heritage.

The event drew a distinguished crowd of industry icons, including media personality Abeiku Santana, MUSIGA President Bessa Simons, and actress Kafui Danku.

The service followed the traditional “Nine Lessons” format, charting the biblical narrative of salvation.

The readings transitioned from the dawn of creation in Genesis through the powerful prophecies of Isaiah, culminating in the Gospel accounts of the Nativity.

Some of the key figures from the creative and tourism sectors who led the readings included

Mrs. Efua Houadjeto (CEO, Ghana Tourism Authority) [First Lesson}, Prof. Kobby Mensah (Executive Director, GTDC) [Second Lesson}

Mrs. Kafui Danku (Executive Director, NFA)[Third Lesson], Eight Lesson: Nana Adwoa Awindor and the Ninth lesson was read by Bessa Simons (President, MUSIGA)

In his opening address, Mr. Herbert Malm, Executive Director of the National Theatre, set a reflective tone for the evening:

“As we gather in the spirit of love, hope, and joy, let the timeless message of Christmas fill your hearts and homes. May the music, drama, fellowship, and celebration bring you all peace and inspiration.”

Echoing this sentiment, the Minister for Tourism Cultural and Creative Arts Hon. Dzifa Abla Gomashie, delivered a passionate call for unity. She urged the creative community and the nation at large to embrace togetherness during the festive season.

The “Light of the World” experience lived up to its name, offering patrons a curated blend of Choral Music Dramatic Performance, Poetry, and Spiritual Reflection

The night concluded as a resounding success, reinforcing the spiritual essence of Christmas while showcasing the National Theatre’s commitment to fostering a vibrant cultural identity.
