The Mortuary Workers Association has announced plans to resume its strike action on Thursday, November 28, to demand better conditions of service.
The decision follows months of unfulfilled promises by the government, which the workers say has left their grievances unresolved.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of Health and other stakeholders, the association expressed frustration over the government’s failure to meet their demands, despite previous assurances. The issues prompting the strike, which was temporarily suspended months ago, remain unaddressed, forcing the association to take this step.
The mortuary workers have indicated that unless they receive a satisfactory response by the end of today, they will proceed with their planned industrial action tomorrow. They maintain that their concerns, which include improved working conditions and fair compensation, are critical to the continuation of their services.
A member of the association, Nana Wiafe, voiced the group’s disappointment in the government during an interview on Hot FM’s Ayehu Show. He emphasized that the workers had shown good faith by suspending the initial strike but were met with inaction, leaving them no choice but to resume the protest.
