Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Paul Twum Barima, has provided some insights into what may be included in today’s mid-year budget presentation by Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam.
The presentation, scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2024, will outline updated financial plans and the economic outlook for Ghana.
Paul Twum Barima hinted that the government will neither introduce new taxes nor reduce existing ones, emphasizing the government’s focus on fulfilling its mandates.
“Government will account for the monies received from the IMF and how they have been utilized for development,” he said.
Twum Barima also advised the government to avoid intervening in petroleum pricing, suggesting that private-sector businesses should manage their own affairs.
Meanwhile, Hon. David Vondee, NDC MP for Twifo Atti-Morkwa in the Central region, has urged the government to consider the timely payment of statutory funds, such as NHIS, GetFund, and the Common Fund, to facilitate national development.
