Staff members of the National Identification Authority (NIA) have formally petitioned President Akufo-Addo, requesting the removal of their Executive Secretary, Professor Kenneth Attafuah.
The petition, signed by 920 NIA staff members, is backed by nearly the entire workforce of the organization.
The petitioners argue that their request is based on several issues, including unfair labor practices that contradict Ghana’s labor laws and the Human Resource Manual and Policy Framework for Ghana Public Services.
They also cite violations of SSNIT law, a poor corporate governance structure, selective and administrative injustice in recruitment, placement, and promotion of staff, as well as a lack of innovative ideas for managing the authority’s administration.
The staff members expressed concerns that Professor Attafuah’s continued tenure could lead to further harm and reputational damage to the NIA. They urge the president to take swift action to address their grievances and ensure better management of the authority.
