The 3rd National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Osman Masawudu, has issued a stern warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), vowing to confront their planned nationwide protest against the Electoral Commission (EC) with equal force.
Speaking on the “Dwene Ho Biom” program on Hot FM, Masawudu expressed frustration with the NDC’s upcoming demonstration, threatening a “boot-for-boot” response if the NDC proceeds with their protest.
During the interview, Masawudu made an alarming statement, stating, “Something will happen in Ghana tomorrow. If the NDC doesn’t face consequences, then we the NPP will.”
He called on NPP footsodiers to counter the NDC demonstrators and went as far as suggesting that his party would interfere with police operations, despite the NDC obtaining legal permission for their protest.
Masawudu further claimed that the NDC’s protest is not about the EC but a calculated attack on the NPP.
He accused the opposition of losing focus ahead of the upcoming elections and trying to use the demonstration as a distraction. He urged the NDC to take their concerns to court instead of staging public protests.
In response to the NDC’s planned demonstration, which is set to start at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange on September 17th, Masawudu announced that the NPP would hold a counter-protest at the same EC offices on the same day.
Tensions are mounting as both parties prepare to take their grievances to the streets, raising concerns about potential clashes.
