President Akufo-Addo has appointed Herbert Krapa as Minister of State at the Energy Ministry, citing the increasing workload at the ministry as the reason for the new appointment.
Herbert Krapa, who currently serves as Deputy Energy Minister and Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana, has been nominated to take on the expanded role. The President’s request for parliamentary approval of Krapa’s appointment was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.
In a letter to Parliament, President Akufo-Addo wrote, “I’m writing to seek parliamentary approval for the appointment of Honourable Herbert Krapa as Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy in accordance with Article 78 of the Constitution.”
The President further explained that the Energy Ministry, traditionally managed by a substantive minister and three deputy ministers, now faces an exceptionally heavy workload, necessitating the appointment of an additional Minister of State to effectively handle the increased responsibilities.
