Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, a former minister in President John Kufuor’s administration and Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman North has called on New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Wenchi Constituency to ramp up their efforts to regain the parliamentary seat lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The appeal was made during a gathering in Akrobi, the hometown of Prof. K.A. Busia, a founding father of the NPP and Ghana’s former Prime Minister.
He urged party members to prioritize unity and intensify their mobilization activities as the December 7 general elections approach.
The Wenchi Constituency, known as a stronghold of the NPP, is viewed as a critical area for consolidating the party’s influence. Losing the seat in the last election was a significant setback, and reclaiming it has become a key goal to uphold the legacy of Prof. Busia and other stalwarts of the party.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi stressed the importance of grassroots efforts, encouraging party members to engage voters and strengthen their outreach programs actively. He also emphasized the role of teamwork, urging members to set aside personal differences and focus on a collective victory.
Unity, diligence, and effective campaigning were presented as essential tools for securing the constituency and contributing to the party’s overall success.
Additionally, he appealed to former executives and appointees of the NPP to lend their support to ongoing campaigns across the country. With limited time left before the elections, he highlighted the need for widespread collaboration and intensified efforts to ensure the party’s victory in both parliamentary and presidential races.
