Emmanuel Kojo Ayisi, who serves as the President of REMSAGH and is the Founder of Debest Pre-University College, has commended the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, for his commitment and insightful leadership aimed at improving the education sector in Ghana.
Ayisi’s praise comes in light of the Minister’s announcement regarding a fee waiver for first-year students enrolled in public tertiary institutions, which he referred to as a critical support for many disadvantaged students dealing with financial difficulties.
“Haruna Iddrisu has shown remarkable leadership by implementing fee waivers for first-year students in public tertiary institutions. This courageous and strategic action will enable underprivileged students to gain access to quality education and achieve their academic goals,” Ayisi stated during an exclusive interview with hotfmghana.
The president of REMSAGH highlighted the significance of this initiative in narrowing the educational access divide, especially for families with constrained financial means. He commended the Minister’s proactive approach and profound awareness of the challenges faced by underserved communities.
“The Minister’s capacity to make impactful decisions for the benefit of students, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, is indeed praiseworthy,” he asserted.
Ayisi also urged important stakeholders, including policymakers and educational bodies, to support this initiative actively to enhance its effectiveness.
He stressed the need for REMSAGH to participate in discussions among stakeholders, emphasizing the association’s crucial role in influencing policies that have a direct effect on students.
“It is vital for REMSAGH, as an important voice in the education sector, to be involved in significant decision-making activities. Our insights can greatly contribute to policies that promote positive change and enhance educational results,” Ayisi concluded.
The fee waiver policy has received widespread acclaim as a groundbreaking initiative that has the potential to transform access to tertiary education for thousands of students in Ghana.
