The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has inaugurated a seven-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B, scheduled for March 2026.
The ceremony marks a major step in Ghana’s preparations to host the international cricket tournament, which is expected to promote the growth of the sport and enhance the country’s profile on the continental stage.
Speaking at the event, the Minister described the tournament as part of Ghana’s broader commitment to sports development and diversification.
“Today’s inauguration signifies yet another key step in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to develop, promote and leverage sports as a powerful tool for national progress and international engagement,” he said.
He also referenced Ghana’s experience in hosting major sporting competitions, including the 13th African Games.
Chairman of the LOC, Nii Okai Evans Anfom, expressed appreciation to the Minister and the Ghana Cricket Association for the confidence reposed in the committee.
“We are committed to working with all stakeholders to deliver a successful and memorable tournament,” he assured.
The competition will feature six teams — Ghana, Tanzania, Eswatini, Malawi, St. Helena and Seychelles — competing in a round-robin format. The top two teams will advance to the Regional Qualifier, a key pathway towards the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Members of the LOC include Nii Okai Evans Anfom, Nihal Abbas, Erasmus Douglas Djarbeng, Evelyn Amerley Nuno-Amarteifio, Horen Quashigah, Samuel Ayer and Gifty Fianu.
