Fear and uncertainty have gripped the residents and elders of Gomoa Pinako in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region following reports that the Odikro of the town has been threatening and intimidating traditional authorities with a cutlass.
The disturbing behavior of the Odikro has led to division and chaos within the community, particularly among its traditional leadership.
Abusuapanin Kwaku Tim, speaking on behalf of the traditional authorities, revealed that the tensions escalated after the newly enstooled Apagyahene, Nana Esi Afedziwah I, initiated discussions regarding accountability for two telecom towers situated in the community.
During a meeting with the Odikro and elders, demands for transparency reportedly triggered the Odikro’s aggressive reactions.
Abusuapanin Kwaku Tim reported that the Odikro, Nana Kowkum Fenyi, has been encouraging some young people to act against him and the Apagyahene.
The police have previously intervened, issuing warnings and making arrests.
Concerns over safety have been raised among the traditional authorities, who feel threatened by the Odikro’s alleged actions.
The situation has prompted calls for urgent intervention to restore peace and ensure the safety of community members and traditional leaders in Gomoa Pinako.
