The Member of Parliament for Pru East Constituency, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has appealed to Ghanaians to prioritize road safety during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, stressing that every life matters.
Boam highlighted that from January to November this year, Ghana recorded about 13,000 road accidents, resulting in the loss of 2,600 lives. He attributed most accidents to human error, noting that they are largely preventable.
He urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads and called on vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, advising them not to pressure drivers into making multiple trips. According to him, safety is everyone’s responsibility.
The MP expressed condolences to families who have lost loved ones in road accidents, noting that breadwinners often travel during this period, leaving families vulnerable. He encouraged all stakeholders, including drivers and passengers, to care for one another, emphasizing that protecting lives is a collective responsibility.
Boam said his message is a timely reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly during the festive season, and appealed to Ghanaians to heed his call.
