Two men lost their lives in a terrible accident that occurred on Monday,12th September 2022 at Sefwi Besibema in the Akontombra District of the Western North Region.
According to eyewitnesses, a trailer with registration number GE 4871-X was transporting an excavator from Sefwi Akontombra towards Sefwi Wiawso.
Upon reaching Sefwi Besibema, the trailer failed to brake causing it to run into more than five stores on the roadside in the community.
Reports made on the mid-morning show on Hot FM, AYƐ HU indicated that seven persons were trapped. In an attempt by community members to rescue them, they realized that the two young men had died on the spot when the excavator fell on them.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital awaiting identification and autopsy. The injured persons are receiving treatments.
The Assembly Member for Besibema electoral area, Hon. Isaac Entsie disclosed that the incident caused the community by destroying about five stores which belonged to petty traders and their tarred roads.
A high tension pole that supplies power from the transformer has also been damaged.
Investigations are ongoing.
