National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, has voiced his concerns about the growing mistrust in the country’s judiciary among politicians.
He highlighted that recent comments by political figures ahead of the December 7 elections are particularly troubling, as they undermine confidence in the judicial system.
Speaking at a forum in Accra, Kan Dapaah emphasized the importance of respecting the judiciary and cautioned against political actors disparaging the institution.
He pointed out that for the first time, the country faces a situation where none of the major political parties seem willing to use the courts to resolve their disputes.
According to the minister, this trend is alarming and signals the need for urgent reforms.
Kan Dapaah underscored the necessity of building a robust and transparent electoral system to ensure that election results are credible and acceptable to all parties.
He argued that such a system would help restore faith in the judiciary and reduce the inclination of politicians to question its integrity.
The minister also called on citizens to prioritize peace during the upcoming polls. He stressed that maintaining stability is crucial for the country’s democratic process and urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful and fair election.
