The Eastern South Regional Police Command on Sunday October 26, 2025 arrested four suspects in connection with the shooting incident during the burial and funeral rites of six family members at Asamankese
The shooting incident led to the injuries of six civilians and three Police officers.
In a statement dated October 27, police noted that they received information that some people were conveying guns and Cartridges into a room near the Chiefs palace and subsequently dispatched personnel to the scene.
The operation led to their arrest and retrieval of one single barrel gun, eighty four live AAA cartridges, seven cutlasses and two knives.

After three of the suspects; Isaac Ntim Nana Yaw Zenyo, Bismark K. K. Adam, 29 and Buaben Richard 25, were arrested some agitated youth attacked the police officers with stones and other implements causing injuries to three officers on their heads and hands.
The angry youth further caused damage to the windscreen and side glass of two police vehicles.
The youth also blocked the road at Asamankese – Akroso junction and around the chief’s palace firing guns indiscriminately on the allegation that the bereaved family may bury their six bodies in the royal cemetery.
In the process six victims, David Odame, 28, Musah Gyakweli, 29, Patrick Ofosu, Obeng Emmanuel, 18, Asamoah Sey, 18 years and one other yet to be identified sustained gunshot injuries.
The victims are receiving treatment at the Asamankese Government hospital whilst all the suspects are in police custody assisting with investigation.
Police has restored calm in Asamankese township. The Eastern South Regional Police Command has intensified Patrols and surveillance in the town to maintain law and other.
The public has been assured of security strategy in place to protect life and property for people to go about their normal duties.
