Owner of Kumasi-based King Faisal FC and football administrator, Alhaji Karim Grusah has rebuked host of Hot 93.3 FM’s Focal Sports show , Mr Justice Opoku Agyemang, professionally known as Bigality for having asserted that he disregarded the local coaches in Ghana.
The veteran football administrator had a while back advocated that a white foreigner be appointed to administer the technical directorate of the Ghana Football Association. Commenting on the newly appointed Technical Director of the GFA, Bernhard Lippert (German football director), Alhaji Grusah said his advocacy was just right for the association because he could not have thought of any Ghanaian coach eligible for the position.
He expressed his full support for the decision made by the GFA and posed the question, “In this country, who can you point out as an eligible Technical director for the GFA?” He insisted that if he had the power to appoint anyone for the position, he would have preferred a white foreigner.
The host found the statement rather offensive and toward the local coaches and football administrators who could have handled the position. Alhaji on the other hand would not share common thoughts with the host and retorted, “I am more sensible than you, and I am older than you. And with my age, I know football more than you do.”
The veteran football administrator insisted that in his experience, he cannot think of any eligible candidate for the position; thus maintaining that his statement was not disrespectful, for it was only an opinion.
