A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Kasoa Kumbe within the Opeikuma – Krispocity Electoral Area of Awutu Senya East Municipality, where a toddler was found burnt to ashes after being dumped behind a school building.
The tragic event occurred on Tuesday evening around 6 PM.
Residents reported seeing a wrapped polythene bag behind the school building earlier in the day but dismissed it as mere garbage.
A woman responsible for sweeping the area collected the bag and disposed of it at the nearby refuse dump.
Later that evening, she set the garbage on fire, unaware of the horrific discovery that awaited her.
As the fire burned, the woman went inside to add more rubbish to the flames. To her shock, she found the remains of a toddler amidst the burning garbage.
Eyewitness Abdul Allahasan Razak explained that the woman had no idea a toddler was inside the polythene bag, and it was clear the child was already deceased.
Local authorities, including Unit Committee chairman Hon. Siisey, have reported the incident to the Kasoa Division police command.
An official investigation is now underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
